VIDEO: USA NDC members and supporters meet President Mills

By Abdul-Gafar on Friday, 25th September 2009

On Thursday Sept 24 2009 night, a reception was held for H.E. President John Atta-Mills at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel. This was following a long day of official activities by president; the main one being his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

The reception was by invitation only and invities were obviously NDC members or at least supporters of the presidents. They all arrived well dressed in different attires from traditional wear to western. The evening started with a very short comedic stand by Mr. Ofori and followed by the President and his entourage which included the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, the Hon Asiedu Nketsiah; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni; the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Ms Hannah Tetteh; and the Minister for Information Mrs. Zita Okai Kwei.  Wakeupghana.com was there to document the whole event along with several other Ghanaian press corp.

The night started supposedly as planned with a speech from the Ambassador followed by an excited Minister of Information. She was abruptly interrupted by the Ambassador to allow the president to meet and greet the attendees. At first everyone including us in the press were perplexed because it appeared that he was leaving, however, it was not the case.

View below some of what was stated at the reception:
