Mass Registration Exercise Tomorow

The National Identification Authority (NIA) wishes to inform the general public that its Registration Officers in the Phase One Greater Accra Region Mass Registration Exercise will work on Friday, November 27, 2009 although it is a public holiday.

The NIA also wants the public to know that the mass registration exercise is going on only in the Phase One Districts and covers the following areas:
Ada, Kasseh, Sege, Ningo, Prampram, Dawhenya, Kpone, Afienya, Asutuare, Agomeda, Dodowa, Ayikuma, Tema, Ashaiman, Lashibi, Spintex Road, Adenta, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringano and Frafraha.

Phase Two registration covers the period December 7 – 17, 2009 in the following areas: Madina, Nkwantanang Abokobi, Pantang, Oyarifa, Agbogba, Haatso, Kwabenya, Ashongman, Dome, Taifa, Pokuase, Ofankor, Amansaman, Ngleshie-Amanfro, Bortianor, Weija, Mallam, Chantan, Anyaa, Sowutuom, Awoshie, and Gbawe.

Phase Three registration covers the period January 11 – 21, 2010 in the following areas:
Kaneshie, Bubuashie, Apenkwa, Abeka, Tesano, Fadama, Nii Boiman, Akweteman, Achimota, Kisseman, Darkuman, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Abossey Okai, Mataheko, Russia, Lartebiokorshie, Korle Gonno, Korle Bu, Manprobi, Chorkor and Dansoman.

Phase Four registration covers the period February 1 – 11, 2010 in the following areas:
Adabraka, Tudu, Asylum Down, Osu, Ringway Estate, Labone, La, Burma Camp, Teshie, Nungua, Alajo, Pig Farm, Kotobabi, New Town, Kokomlemle, Roman Ridge, Dzorwulu, Abelenkpe, Shiashie, Okponglo, East Legon, Maamobi, Nima, and Kanda.

The NIA, therefore, encourages people to take note of the period the exercise is coming to their areas and also wishes to assure the general public that everybody will eventually be registered under the system.

As a temporary measure to give the opportunity to those who could not register during the mass registration exercise in Phase One, the NIA will soon open temporary offices in Tema, Ashaiman and Adenta. The NIA also has the option to carry out mop-up registration in highly-populated areas.

    It is a very good idea for such an exercise, but what good will it make for Ghanaians. Secondly can one have the chance to update or amend records in future after registration incase one’s particulars changes or an error is identified.
