Bishop Daniel Obinim, General Overseer of International God’s Way Church at Bosore near Kumasi, has been mentioned in a complex master plan, allegedly hatched by him, to incriminate his arch rival, Rev. Ebenezer Opambour Adarkwa Yiadom of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre at Ahenema Kokoben.
He is helping the police in their investigations to ascertain the truth or otherwise of allegations leveled against him by one Pastor Frank Annor. Even though Bishop Obinim has denied knowledge of his accuser and the allegations, the Suame Police have asked him to produce three junior pastors of Obinim’s church, in the persons of Willie, Victor and Charles, said to be his accuser’s accomplices and partners in crime.
After dragging his feet for almost a week, the embattled man of God finally reported to the police in the company of his wife and some pastors, amid boos and jeers by onlookers last Saturday for interrogation.
A pastor of the now defunct Faith Power Ministry at Konongo in the Asante Akim North municipality of the Ashanti Region has revealed to the Suame Divisional Police in Kumasi how Bishop Obinim engaged him to frame up Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, with the intention to dismember his congregation and run his church down.
Pastor Frank Annor, currently on a GH¢5,000 enquiry bail, has told the police on record that Bishop Daniel Obinim allegedly masterminded a plot to implicate his colleague man of God.
Annor, 23, who feels threatened, has revealed that somewhere in September this year, one pastor Charles Adarkwa introduced him to Bishop Obinim at a spot at Ashaley Botwe in Accra, where the Head Pastor announced his intention to engage him to render some services.
According to Annor, when he agreed to undertake the assignment, Obinim prayed for him, after which the Man of God put some red oil in his nose and ears, and made him drink some of the substance as a way of fortifying him for the task ahead.
According to him, the infusion continued until he could not refuse to do anything the Bishop asked him to. At a point, Obinim allegedly took Annor’s mobile phone, which he is still keeping, for fear that he would be recorded secretly.
He said together with other errand boys, they went to a town near Ho in the Volta Region, and convinced three women to be part of a scheme to mobilise support for Bishop Obinim.
Their modus operandi was to ask the women to inhale some substances, which would make them fall into coma, before they being brought to church for Obinim to pray for them at a time the potency of the substance, believed to be chloroform, had died out, making it appear that Bishop Obinim had the power to raise the dead.
Annor said they paid each of the women GH¢500 for the services rendered. On their return from this expedition in the Volta Region, Pastor Annor disclosed further that he once met Obinim at a Hotel at Labadi, where a man had brought a live black cobra in a sack from the Northern Region.
He said after some rituals had been performed inside the hotel room, the snake, which now looked unconscious, was brought out and wrapped in cement paper, under the cover of darkness.
He said before it was wrapped up, Bishop Obinim added some amount of salt and bones, and put them in a black polythene bag.
This parcel, according to Annor, was to be buried on the premises of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre at the Island City at Ahenema Kokoben, after which an alarm would be raised, and point out that the source of Rev. Adarkwa Yiadom’s spiritual powers was not divine.
This assignment, he said, was duly executed on a Friday at 2:00 a.m., in the company of Pastor Charles, Willie and Victor.
According to Annor, it had been agreed that he would be paid GH¢4,000 on the successful execution of the assignment.
Annor confessed that they hatched another plan to bury four human skulls subsequently on the premises of the Ebenezer Worship Centre for a fee of GH¢6,000.
Annor said there was a secret covenant between Bishop Obinim and him, to the effect that he (Annor) would not disclose anything, and that if he did, he would either go mad, die or be assassinated.
he young pastor, who said he had so far been given GH¢600 to take care of transportation, said just after the interment of the snake, Rev. Charles kept on calling him on phone to enquire if he (Annor ) had disclosed their diabolical act to a third person.
He said before he was aware, he was being trailed by unknown persons wherever he went. These assailants first attacked him one Saturday, and inflicted cutlass wounds on him.
The next day, some assailants traced him to a church, and stoned him on the forehead, after which he lodged a complaint with the Suame Divisional police.
He said realising that Charles and Obinim were trailing him, he had had to relocate to avoid being killed to cover-up the deal.
Annor also told the police that he spoke to Bishop Obinim mostly on phone, besides meeting him in person thrice at Ashaley Botwe, Tema and at the Labadi hotel.
Last week Tuesday, Annor led five police personnel, including detectives, to exhume the interred snake and other items on the premises of Rev. Adarkwa Yiadom’s church.
The exhibit, which is in the state of decomposition, is in the possession of the police. Following Bishop Obinim’s denial, Annor, who came to the police station clutching a bottle of schnapps and three eggs, has invoked deities, and cursed Obinim for denying the allegation.
ASP Kwaku Duah, Suame Divisional Crime Officer, confirmed the story when The Chronicle contacted him.
He also confirmed that Bishop Obinim had been asked to produce the three named accomplices by today (Monday November 30) for identification by their accuser.
Rev. Adarkwa has declined to comment on the development, saying he did not want to interfere in the work of the investigators.
According to him, he believed the police could do a good job and arrive at a logical conclusion for the law to take its course.
