Ex-Ghana international, Samuel Osei Kuffour says he is baffled by claims that he made insulting gestures at the convoy of Vice President John Dramani Mahama in traffic.
The Vice President’s convoy was reported to have been impeded Tuesday afternoon by the ex-international at Nima 441 in Accra. Policemen travelling in the Vice President’s convoy were reported to have signaled nearby vehicles to pave way for the convoy, however one driver, who later turned out to be Sammy Kuffour, ignored the signal.
According to John Jinapor, spokesperson for John Mahama, the policemen intended arresting the offending driver, however the vice president intervened and asked that he be left alone. It was after the intervention that he asked to know who the driver was, and was informed it was Sammy Kuffour, at which name he laughed even though he was shocked somewhat.
Reports early on suggested Osei Kuffour poked his middle finger at the convoy and told them to “f..k off!” He has however denied the allegation, and told Adom FM that he did not know the Vice President was around.
He said he was behind about five other vehicles, and saw another vehicle (apparently a member of the convoy who was behind) asking to be given way, and it was one of the two occupants (the driver) who shouted at him, and for which he also shouted back at the person. Sammy Kuffour said the incident lasted less than two seconds, and he did not see the Vice President on the scene.
According to Sammy Kuffour, he has nothing to gain from being insolent to the Vice President, and the allegation against him is no behavior he would ever put up.
