A 35 year old driver on Monday prayed an Accra Circuit Court not to remand him because he wanted to go home and watch the upcoming semi- final match to be played by Ghana.

Frimpong Manso said this in response to a trial judge’s question as to whether he wanted to watch the semi finals match to be played by Ghana.

Manso in agreement pleaded with the court not to remand him.

Manso appeared before the court for threatening to kill his father and causing unlawful damage to a trap door and louver blades estimated at GH 500 cedis.

Manso pleaded guilty to threat of death but denied the charge of causing damage.

The court presided over by Mr. C.A Wilson however remanded him into Police custody to reappear on January 29.

Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kofi Blagodzi told the court that the complainant is Mr. Owusu Frimpong while the accused is his first son.

According to DSP Blagodzi, Mr. Frimpong and his wife lived in London but they came to Ghana to spend the Christmas holidays.
On January 20, this year at Sowutuom, Mr. Frimpong had a call from his wife that accused was assaulting her.

Prosecution said when the complainant rushed home and intervened, accused threatened to kill him and when leaving the house, prosecution said he intentionally and unlawfully destroyed a trap door, some louver blades estimated at GH 500 cedis.

In a related development, the court has also remanded into police custody three persons for allegedly robbing a trader of assorted phone cards valued at GH 51,000 cedis and unspecified amount of money.

The accused are Albert Amoah, Kofi Adu now on hospital admission and Samuel Opoku.

Three of their accomplices who yet to be identified are said to be on the run.

They are facing charges of conspiracy and robbery.
Amoah and Opoku have pleaded not guilty.

DSP Blagodzi said on December 23, last year, accused who were in mask attacked Ms. Cynthia Adjei and her family at their residence in Teshie Nungua at gun point.

The accused persons led the complainant to her shop and made away with different phone cards and unspecified monies.

On January 1, this year, Ms. Adjei’s husband identified Adu in town and caused his arrest. Six days later, Ms. Adjei identified Amoah her former employee in town and he was also arrested.

During police investigations, Adu mentioned the name of Opoku and he was also picked up. Three other accomplices are however at large.
